What do new home owners unpack first?
According to a survey the first thing to be unpacked when we move home is the kettle. At Big Red Movers we would agree with this (because we make sure it is the first thing off the lorry at the new house) as well as our removals customers our teams are require a lot of liquid refreshment to keep them going on such physical days as moving house.

New Great War Memorial in Nottingham
£35,000 has been raised by the Nottingham public towards the cost of a new great War memorial. The remaining cost of a total of almost £400,000 is being met by the county and city councils.

The new memorial will be built on the Victoria Embankment in Nottingham and will have all the names of every casualty from Nottingham including nurses and civilians who were killed by Zeppelin raids or factory accidents during the Great War. -
Are your tyres more than 10 years old?
The Government is considering legislation to make it illegal for buses,coaches and lorries to use tyres more than 10 years old. The Government has been considering whether the age of a tyre effects road worthiness. Guidance at present says tyres older than 10 years should not be used on front axles of vehicles as this would make controlling a vehicle of any size difficult during a blow out.

New powers to combat fly tipping
Nottinghamshire Councils have now acquired new powers to seize and destroy vehicles used by fly tippers. Vehicles are removed by councils and taken directly to dismantlers for destruction.

Hidden cameras are now in use in areas that are regularly used for fly tipping.
Councils are also supporting communities who are operating their own litter picking schemes.
We don't see this problem going away anytime soon though. Every week customers ask us to dispose of items for them during a house removal... -
Half a million buyers use Government Scheme
Since the launch of the Governments Help to Buy scheme 495,000 homes have been purchased through the scheme.

The scheme works by lending buyers up to 20% of the purchase price of a brand new build home. This means buyers only require a 5% cash deposit and a 75% mortgage. Most buyers using the scheme are from outside the Capital.

Raleigh plans move again
Nottingham based Raleigh Bicycles has announced plans to move from it's Eastwood premises. The existing site is now out dated and inflexible for it's future plans to increase sales of E-bikes and accessories.

New zero deposit scheme for rentals
A new zero deposit scheme is being introduced for those looking to rent a property. Saving the money for first month rent plus another for deposit is an expensive thing to do. When it becomes time to move on to another property the tenant has to then find the monies all over again.
