90 new homes announced on Meadow Lane
It has been announced that more than 90 new houses will be built in Nottingham on the banks of the River Trent. Trent Bridge Quays development will be built between the city's two football clubs and will comprise of up to 95 townhouses and apartments.

Boots go Paper
Great news - Nottingham based Boots the Chemist have today announced that they are replacing their plastic bags with unbleached paper bags. This will remove more than 900 tonnes of plastic from their operations annually. Here at Big Red Movers we champion the environment by using good quality recycled packing boxes for our removals.

New Waterside Living
Nottingham City Council plans to redevelop along the riverbank from The Meadows to Colwick have taken a step closer to realisation. The Waterside Supplementary Planning Document has been passed to the Executive Board for adoption. The SPD will be used to support and control the type of planning approved in the future along the waterside.

As well as apartment and house construction the council has plans for a new school,public spaces and cycle paths.

New Gedling Access Road
The public inquiry into the new Gedling Access Road will not now take place. The Government planning inspector decided that all statutory objections had been resolved.

New Central Library in Nottingham announced
The new central library in Nottingham will be built on the former Broad Marsh car park site. Award wining architectural firm Faulkner Brown, who designed the ice stadium in Nottingham have been successful in wining the contract for the new library also. The new library will be part of the new Southside redevelopment in Nottingham including the new Intu shopping centre.

Major Road Works around West Bridgford
In July various road works will start around the Bridgford area. The A60 junction at Trent Bridge Cricket ground will see major disruption as traffic signal lighting is replaced for latest technology.

The A60 between Wilford Lane and Trent Bridge will be resurfaced and will take around 8 weeks to complete. Temporary traffic signals monitored by CCTV will be in place and it is claimed will be monitored and therefore run efficiently at peak times. Pavements will also be closed at times.

HS2
A new report has found that the £50 billion budget for HS2 could have been spent more wisely on other lines. That also includes the electrification of the Midland mainline travelling through Nottingham to London. Also suggested was the reopening of the Whitacre Link between Nottingham and Birmingham.
