We all know the roads are generally very quiet now, no more rush hour jams either.

County Council agree maximum tax rise
Councillors have agreed to raise council tax by the maximum 3.99 per cent while putting more into reserves.

It means people in Band A properties will pay an extra £39.26 a year to the council, while those in Band D homes will pay an additional £58.89.
After a nine-hour meeting yesterday, (Thursday, February 27) Conservative councillors at Nottinghamshire County Council voted through the budget with the support of their coalition partners, the Mansfield Independents. -

Weetabix River Pollution
Weetabix have been fined by the Environment Agency for polluting the River Ise in Burton Latimer near Kettering. The pollution happened in November 2016 when 23,000 litres of diesel leaked from tanks on an embankment on the weetabix site into the river. The cost of the clean up operation was £500,000.

Thankfully, wet weather combined with how the river was flowing at the time limited the damage to fish and plant life. Weetabix have been manufacturing breakfast cereal since 1932.

90 New Apartments for London Road Island
The site of the former Shell filling station on London Road Island and more recently a hand car wash site has been approved for a new apartment block. 90 apartments will be built although the original plan for sub parking and a retail unit have been scrapped. It is this authors opinion that no parking is always a bad idea. Tradesmen working on site,visitors, just simply moving in to a building, with the help of a removals firm or not.
