Weetabix River Pollution
Weetabix have been fined by the Environment Agency for polluting the River Ise in Burton Latimer near Kettering. The pollution happened in November 2016 when 23,000 litres of diesel leaked from tanks on an embankment on the weetabix site into the river. The cost of the clean up operation was £500,000.
Thankfully, wet weather combined with how the river was flowing at the time limited the damage to fish and plant life. Weetabix have been manufacturing breakfast cereal since 1932.
