No More Fluffy Dice
It is time to stop hanging things from your rear view mirror. No more sat navs in the middle of your windscreen. It is also time for van drivers to clear all that rubbish from the dashboard (which makes you look amateurish, untidy and probably unreliable).
Why you ask? Because the police and DVSA (Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency) who have the powers to stop and fine the same as police, are targeting vehicles with anything stuck to the windscreen. Lorry drivers have long since received fines for items blocking the view of the road and now it is the turn of all the rest of the nations drivers to receive some hefty fines. It is worth noting that the DVSA is self funding through fines, so it is in the interest of their staff to fine you.
An air freshener hanging from your rear-view mirror could be enough to land you with a £1,000 fine and 3 points on your licence.
A new crackdown could deem anything from invasive sat navs, fluffy dice, stickers and dirty windscreens to be obstructing a driver’s view of the road.
While not actually illegal to drive with dirty windscreens or large air fresheners, according to the Highway Code and the Road Traffic Act, drivers are breaking the law if their view of the road is obstructed in any way.
You have been warned expect to hear someone telling you how they received a very unfair fine sometime soon.....
